Everything about Ambrosia (How to Revive Ghost Sims in the Sims 4!)

Ambrosia is a powerful dish in the Sims 4 base game. It has the ability to revive dead sims, making it a highly sought-after recipe in the game. In this blog post, we will explore the steps required to create ambrosia in The Sims 4, including the ingredients, method and skill requirements. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game, mastering the art of creating ambrosia can bring a new level of excitement and possibility to your gameplay experience.

What is Ambrosia in Sims 4? 

Ambrosia is a dish that your sim can cook in the oven like any other, but it has special effects on the sim who eats it. The two possible effects are: 

• Reviving a dead sim
• Resetting the age of a living sim, so that they can live longer (Find out how to cheat your sim’s age entirely in this post) 

Ambrosia cannot be bought in the Sims 4, so sims have to make it themselves. Don’t worry though if you’re impatient or stuck you can use cheats to help you (more on that later)! Aside from its role as a fun and chaotic gameplay feature, making ambrosia can also be a required task for an aspiration. For example, selling ambrosia is required for the Market Magnate aspiration from the Sims 4 Home Chef Hustle stuff pack. 

Requirements for making Ambrosia 

Skill requirements 

Gourmet Cooking Skill Level 10 

To make ambrosia your sim must have gourmet cooking skill level 10. Unlock the gourmet cooking skill by reaching level 5 of the cooking skill first. Then, gain the skill by making gourmet cooking meals and reading gourmet cooking skill books. Alternatively, use the gourmet cooking skill cheat! 

Depending on the method used to find the ingredients, additional skills may be helpful to gain. Two skills that I recommend are: 

• Gardening Skill Level 5 – necessary if you are growing the death flower.
• Fishing Skill Level 1 -10 – unfortunately, there’s a lot of luck needed for the fishing required so any skill level may be useful to have. 

Satisfaction point requirements 

1,500 satisfaction points will be necessary in order to purchase the Potion of Youth from the rewards store. You can accumulate satisfaction points by completing aspiration milestones and by fulfilling your sim’s whims. If you need the points instantly, then I recommend using the satisfaction points cheat.

Ingredients for Ambrosia in the Sims 4

• Angel Fish 
• Death flower 
• Potion of Youth

How to get Angelfish 

The primary way of getting angelfish in the Sims 4 is by fishing. However, angelfish are rare and it requires a lot of luck and sometimes high fishing skill in order to succeed. • Purchasing from the gallery 
• Purchasing from the potion ingredients stall in the magic realm (requires Sims 4 Realm of Magic)

How to find a Death Flower 

Death flowers can be grafted by sims with at least level 5 of the gardening skill by following these steps: 

1. Graft an apple (found in a starter seed packet) with a cherry (found near the Landgraab’s lot in Oasis Springs) to make pomegranates. 
2. Graft a snapdragon and a lily (both found near the Goths home and by the commercial area in Willow Creek) to make orchids. 
3. Graft the pomegranate and the orchid to make a death flower. 
4. Harvest the death flower.

Other methods for obtaining a death flower include: 

• Buying rare seed packets (level 10 of gardening skill required) 
• Purchasing from the gallery 
• Purchasing from the potion ingredients stall in the magic realm (requires the Sims 4 Realm of Magic game pack)
• Asking Roberto Crinkletop (requires the Sims 4 Horse Ranch expansion pack) 
• Use the debug cheat

Where to buy the Potion of Youth 

Purchase the Potion of Youth from the rewards store for 1,500 satisfaction points. The rewards store can be found in the aspiration UI menu along the bottom right hand side of the screen.

How to Make Ambrosia in the Sims 4 

Method 

1. Obtain all three of the ingredients: one angelfish, one death flower and a potion of youth
2. Place all of the ingredients in your sim’s inventory and make sure your sim has maxed the gourmet cooking skill (i.e., reached level 10) 
3. Click on a fridge or stove and select “Cook a Gourmet Meal…” option 
4. Scroll down to ambrosia at the bottom of the menu and select it 
5. Done! Your sim will now make the ambrosia dish and place it on a kitchen surface to serve it

How to Use Ambrosia in the Sims 4 

Ambrosia must be eaten for its effect to be experienced by a ghost or living sim. This is easy to do for sims in your household for whom you can simply click on the dish and choose to eat it. For sims outside of your household, there are three possible methods: 

• Move them into your household, instruct them to eat the ambrosia and then move them out again.
  • Move a sim into your household by getting to know them well enough and then using the “Ask to Join Household” friendly social interaction. Alternatively, enable cheats and then shift click on the sim in question and select the “Add to Family” option. 
• Gift the ambrosia dish to the desired sim by placing it in your sim’s inventory and then using the give gift social interaction. 
• If you have the Sims 4 Home Chef Hustle stuff pack, then you can use the social interaction “Convince to Buy…” during a food sale to make sure the sim in question purchases the ambrosia dish.  

These methods can be used to get living and ghost sims to eat ambrosia.

How to Sell Ambrosia 

Ambrosia can be sold directly from your sim’s inventory or you can use any methods of selling from different packs in the game. For example, selling items at the grocery or garden stalls in Henford-On-Bagley (Cottage Living Expansion Pack), setting items for sale in your own shop (Get to Work Expansion Pack), or selling items at a food sale (Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack). Ambrosia has the potential to be very valuable, see image below.

What’s the Ambrosia Cheat in the Sims 4? 

There is no singular cheat that exists to get ambrosia directly. You will need to cheat to get all three of the ingredients individually and then cheat some of your sim’s skill levels to be able to make the ambrosia treat! 

It might sound complicated, but it really isn’t! Just follow these steps (on PC or console) and you will have an ambrosia treat in no time: 

1. Enable cheats by typing testingcheats true into the cheats bar (learn more about cheats in the sims 4 here) 
2. Use the debug cheat to get angelfish
   1. Enter bb.showhiddenobjects and press enter to unlock the debug menu in build mode 
   2. Find an angelfish in the build/buy menu, place it on your sim’s lot and drag it into your sim’s inventory in live mode. If this cheat is glitchy or doesn’t work (sometimes that happens for me), then use one of the other fast methods to obtain an angelfish outlined in this post
3. Use the debug cheat again to retrieve the death flower from the debug menu (or use one of the six methods explained in this post) 
4. Buy the potion of youth from the reward store for 1,500 satisfaction points 
5. Type into the cheats bar stats.set_skill_level Major_GourmetCooking 10
6. Press enter and your Sim will have the maximum level of the gourmet cooking skill as required for the final step 
7. Use the “Cook Gourmet Meal” action when clicking on a fridge or stove in the game and select to cook ambrosia! 

Can you buy ambrosia? 

No, but you can buy the ingredients by following the instructions earlier in this post. 

Who can eat ambrosia in the Sims 4? 

All sims can! There’s no age limit to sim’s who can eat ambrosia. Choose any living or ghost sim in the game to eat it and witness its effect.
