In the Sims 4 Base Game, a great way to unlock new recipes and positive moodlets is to increase your sim’s gourmet cooking skill. It’s an additional skill to the cooking skill (find the cooking skill cheat here). Usually you need to reach level 5 in the cooking skill before your sim can start to acquire the gourmet cooking skill. However, your sim does not need to have level 5 in the cooking skill to use this gourmet cooking cheat!
Note that this gourmet cooking skill cheat can be used to increase or decrease the level that your sim is at.
Step 1 – Enable Cheats
Make the cheat bar appear in the top left hand corner of the screen by pressing:
- Command + Shift + C on PC.
- CTRL + Shift + C on Mac.
- All four triggers on console.
Type in “testingcheats on” and press enter to enable the use of cheats.
Step 2 – Gourmet Cooking Skill Cheat
Input stats.set_skill_level major_gourmetcooking X into the cheat bar and press enter. Replace X with the desired skill level number.
The cheat bar is not case sensitive, so it doesn’t matter if you use any capital letters in the cheat code or not. It will work either way. Below I have written out the cheat for each level, so that you can just copy and paste the cheat code that you want to use!

Final Note
The gourmet cooking skill is a really fun one to gain because of all the new recipes that it unlocks for your sims to make! You can also unlock more new recipes using the baking skill cheat, which I use a lot in my gameplay!
