Plopsy is one of my favourite gameplay features in The Sims 4. Who doesn’t love a good side hustle? I love them! Learn everything you need to know about Plopsy in this post.

What is Plopsy?

Etsy Plopsy

noun

An “online” marketplace selling homemade crafts that was introduced in The Sims 4 Nifty Knitting stuff pack

For a pack that seems very niche on the surface, Plopsy is Nifty Knitting’s universal piece. It is a great cross-pack feature which allows you to sell all sorts of handmade items.

How to Access and Buy on Plopsy

Navigate to the shopping category on your sim’s phone. Then, select “Browse Plopsy…”.

A window will pop up with all of the items that are on sale and you can purchase whatever you’d like from there. New items are regularly posted on the platform, so if you check back later there will be more goodies to buy. Refer to the “Time Until Refresh” notice on the screen to know exactly when the product listings will be updated.

Purchased items will appear in your sim’s personal inventory immediately.

How to Sell on Plopsy

Follow these steps to sell a crafted item on Plopsy:

  1. Make sure the item you wish to sell is in your sim’s inventory.
  2. Click on the item and select the option “List on Plopsy”. It will cost 5 simoleons to post an item on the platform (the listed item will have a pink background in your sim’s inventory).
  3. Wait for someone to bid on your item. This will likely take several days in the game.A notification will appear when someone bids on your item. This will pop up in the notification centre and your item will have a blue background in your sim’s inventory.
  4. Hover your cursor over the item to see what the selling price will be and then you can decide what to do:
    1. Relist on Plopsy
    2. Ship on Plopsy

If you change your mind about selling your item before a bid is placed, then you can click on it and choose to unlist it from the platform.

How to Send Out Purchased Items

Click on the item in your inventory, which should now have a blue background to its icon and select the option to “Ship on Plopsy”. Your sim will automatically put it into the mailbox and their commision will be added to the household funds. All you need is a mailbox, so you are able to sell from a residential or apartment lot type.

Expired Listings

When you hover over a listed item in your sim’s inventory it will state on which day the item’s listing will expire.

If no one buys one of your sim’s listed items on Plopsy (don’t worry this happens to me regularly), you’ll receive a notification that its listing period has expired. Then, you can choose to relist it on Plopsy, sell it via a different method or keep it.

How to Reject an Offer?

Reject an offer by relisting the item on Plopsy and waiting for a new offer. Note that this will cost you five simoleons to do.

Getting Feedback from Customers

Once an item has sold, shipped and some time has passed, your sim will receive a notification with customer feedback. This won’t affect the prices offered on future listings, it is simply a storytelling element.

Legendary Knittables

If you own either The Sims 4 Cottage Living or Horse Ranch, then I recommend using excellent quality wool (from a llama or mini sheep). This along with the creative visionary reward trait (Base Game) will increase the likelihood of crafting a legendary knittable.
