The knitting skill was added in the Sims 4 Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack. It’s a fun hobby for your sims and can even be a lucrative one! Each level that your sim gains in the knitting skill unlocks new knitable items and interactions. If you want any of those items without spending all the time levelling up the skill, then the knitting skill cheat outlined below in this post is very useful.
How To Enable Cheats
Make the cheat bar appear in the top left hand corner of the screen by pressing:
- Command + Shift + C on PC.
- CTRL + Shift + C on Mac.
- All four triggers on console (e.g. PS4).
Type in “testingcheats on” and press enter to enable the use of cheats.
Knitting Skill Cheat in the Sims 4
To cheat the knitting skill type stats.set_skill_level major_knitting X into the cheat bar after enabling cheats and then press enter. Replace X with the number of the level you desire your sim to have in the knitting skill.
The cheat bar is not case sensitive, so it doesn’t matter if you use any capital letters in the cheat code or not. It will work either way. Below I have written out the cheat for each level, so that you can just copy and paste the cheat code that you want to use!

Max Knitting Skill in the Sims 4
Level 10 is the maximum level of the knitting skill, so by cheating to level 10 (stats.set_skill_level major_knitting 10) you have maxed your sim’s knitting skill . Children can max the skill as well as sims that are teens and older. Find out more here.
Other Knitting Cheats: Unlock Knitted Clothing and Items
As well as cheating your sim’s knitting skill level, you can cheat their access to the unlockable items without going through all of the skill gain and gameplay.
Type the following cheat codes (in bold below) into the cheat bar after enabling cheats and press enter.
Unlock Knitted Clothing in the Sims 4
cas.unlockbytag SP17
Unlock all clothing and patterns for all ages, genders and occults.
Unlock Knit Objects
bb.showhiddenobjects
Unlock all build mode items and decorative objects (craftables) in the build/buy catalogue. This cheat code provides access to buy debug mode where the objects can be found.
Unlock Knitting Trait
traits.equip_trait trait_SacredKnittingKnowledge
Unlock 3 extra knitting patterns while acquiring sacred knitting knowledge trait, which is usually only obtainable by completing the lord/lady of the knits aspiration.
