In the Sims 4 Base Game, the cooking skill is one of the most useful skills and oftentimes will naturally increase quickly as your sim makes meals for themselves. However, based on your storytelling you may want to cheat your sim’s cooking level. In this post I will explain how you can do that.
Note that you can cheat the level to be higher or lower than it currently is by choosing the specific level that you want your sim to have.
Step 1 – Enable Cheats
Start by making the cheat bar appear in the top left hand corner of the screen by pressing:
- Command + Shift + C on PC.
- CTRL + Shift + C on Mac.
- All four triggers on console.
Type in “testingcheats on” and press enter to enable the use of cheats.
Step 2 – Cooking Skill Cheat
Type stats.set_skill_level major_homestylecooking X into the cheat bar and press enter. Replace X with the level of the skill you would like your sim to obtain.
The cheat bar is not case sensitive, so it doesn’t matter if you use any capital letters in the cheat code or not. It will work either way. Below I have written out the cheat for each level, so that you can just copy and paste the cheat code that you want to use!

The cooking skill is referred to as “homestyle cooking” in the cheat code because there are two additional types of cooking in the game, gourmet cooking skill (Base Game – click here for the gourmet cooking skill cheat) and baking skill (Get To Work Expansion Pack).
Cheat To Max The Cooking Skill
There are 10 possible levels for the cooking skill in the Sims 4. Therefore, you can max the cooking skill by typing in the cheat code for level 10!
